International Airport of Murcia Region

Murcia, Spain

The new airport in the region of Murcia, was from the beginning a constant challenge, and it was not for its airport program, but because the project should incorporate changes and extensions without changing their daily functioning. Create a flexible terminal from the architecture itself, this was the challenge. Another important factor of the project was identification with the place. Too often all airports resemble each other and are impervious to the attributes of the place. In Murcia airport terminal, transit between the outside and the inside is valued through its section, making a route between the brightness of the outer and inner ambience, achieved by zenith skylights. The variability of the section allows easy identification of the different areas in the terminal.
