Although the Monadnock Block, seen here, is protected, the federally owned Century and Consumers buildings (photo below) are not, hence the ongoing efforts of Preservation Chicago, which put them (once again) on its Most Endangered list. (Photo: Google Maps)
Thickness of walls at the base of the Monadnock Building, a landmarked 1891 building in Chicago's Loop, located two blocks away from the Consumers Building (1913) and Century Building (1915), both of which face a date with the wrecking ball: 6 feet (1.83m)
