Contemplation of the four seasons

The 19-story building stands tall and is visible from all directions along Cheng Ching Rd. in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. The building's design emphasizes vertical lines, which change its appearance depending on the direction of view. The subtle unevenness of the vertical walls casts shadows on the openings, preventing direct sunlight from entering the building. This is a consideration for the sunny climate of Kaohsiung.

Because of the unevenness of the walls, the flat shape of each unit is not a typical rectangle, but a strange shape. The manipulation of the volume, which becomes thinner toward the top, resulted in a larger than usual number of dwelling unit types.

It was a pleasant surprise to find that the text we wrote at the client's request was placed near the entrance.

I always think about diversity.
Just as every person is different, what kind of diversity should there be in a house?
I drew many lines.
They overlap back and forth to create folds, give a delicate expression that changes with the angle, create a unique skyline, and lead wind and shade into the room.
I hope that the lines I have drawn in Kaohsiung will bring joy to people's lives and to the urban landscape.”
