When the architects visited the building site for this home they were struck by the sight of the Oyoko River running just beyond the next lot, lined on both sides with cherry blossom trees. They began the design process determined to incorporate the lovely view of the cherry trees into the structure. For their part the clients requested an extremely simple, white space where they could enjoy a pared-down lifestyle. The final structure consists of a series of one-room spaces, measuring a modest forty square meters each and layered on top of each other; variation comes from changes in ceiling height and window design.
