The office and commercial building „ConneXion Office“ is being built on one of Hamburg‘s last vacant inner-city sites, within sight of the main railway station and the “Kunstmeile“. The design for the development plan is based on an urban planning competition from 2001, which set the triangular layout of the site. It required an intelligent solution with regard to the great depth of the building in the centre of the triangle. An atrium and the compactly arranged access and utility areas on the inside bring plenty of daylight into the office spaces. With a slightly convex main façade facing the railway tracks, the building closes the block. The lateral façades swing back concave in the middle area above the second floor, thus widening the exterior space to the neighbouring buildings. The façades are characterised by trapeze-shaped columns and light-coloured ceramic bands with glazed and profiled surfaces, wrapped around the building at the level of the ceiling slabs.
