Nautical Flair in Zalmhaven Tower

The Zalmhaven Tower is one of the most striking skyscrapers in Rotterdam and with a height of 215 metres, it is the highest building in the Netherlands. The residential tower was designed by the renowned Amsterdam architectural practice Dam & Partners Architects and is part of the three-part Zalmhaven complex. In this sought-after location, the designer Evi Om had the opportunity to design an apartment on the 34th floor for a family who is closely linked with the maritime sector.

Not only do the impressive views of Rotterdam, the Maas River and the Erasmus Bridge play a large role in "De Zalm Haven Zen" but the nautical element is also reflected in the interior design and the colour scheme. The apartment is characterised by an open layout which fluidly links together the areas of the kitchen, living area and dining room. Large window areas with a panoramic view of the city's skyline and strategically placed mirrors enhance the airy spacious feeling and flood the room in light. The interior design creates a pleasant atmosphere in which warm materials contrast with vibrant colours. The colour concept by Evi Om - a combination of luxurious beige tones and deep blue tones inspired by the sea - is consistently implemented throughout the apartment and creates a feeling of calm and elegance. All the furniture is made from natural and high-quality materials which were selected due to their durability and timeless character. The spacious balcony improves the quality of time spent outdoors. The main bedroom picks up the blue colour scheme and sets a clear design statement with a velvet-covered bench seat and structured wall elements. Built-in wall lights emphasise the vertical alignment of the wall design, while soft textiles ensure a warm, cosy atmosphere. The switches and sockets from JUNG in LS 990 Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier in bleu outremer foncé are the perfect complement to the intensively blue elements. Depending on the incidence of light, this deep blue colour tone sets either a beautiful dark accent or a shiny bright addition to the harmonious ensemble. Using a special process for hand painting, this switching equipment is given a unique matt gloss finish. The interior designer decided on the simple design of the timeless LS 990 series in white for the living area which perfectly matches the glossy white wall panels made from Carrara marble.
