A successful renaissance for the iconic Marlene Bar in Berlin. As part of the comprehensive modernisation of the traditional Intercontinental Hotel, BRUMANN was also commissioned to renovate the historic "Marlene Bar" including the restaurant as the general contractor for the interior fit-out and furnishings. Based on a design by London-based Goddard Littlefair, the bar has once again become a well-known meeting place in Berlin's nightlife scene.

With black marble-look tiles, dark wood panelling, mirrored floor tiles and shimmering gold brass elements, Goddard Littlefair has created a classic, modern look that now appears lighter, brighter and more inviting to hotel guests thanks to a continuous new ceiling line. The long, open counter is a striking visual highlight for visitors. The furniture combines metropolitan glamour with raw, classic chic.

As a specialist for hotel interiors, BRUMANN finalised this design with the operator and in coordination with Goddard Littlefair on site as the general contractor for all trades. Economically optimised and above all adapted in terms of functionality in the bar/kitchen area, the bar was first dismantled and removed before the new concept was implemented. Modernisation of the technical systems and connections as well as modern kitchen and bar equipment were also planned. FF&E and decoration were supplied at the end of the project phase. The renaissance of the Marlene Bar and the associated new flair won over the operating company. Sebastian Germershausen, General Manager, InterContinental Berlin, says: "The InterContinental Berlin is a project close to my heart - and I am very happy to have such an outstanding team at my side. With the modernisation, we are preserving the soul and magic of the hotel, but bringing it up to date in terms of design, user-friendliness and sustainability."
