Double House

New Canaan, Connecticut, USA
© Francesca Giovanelli

This project acknowledges the presence of modernism in the area while reinventing the typical residential plan in the interests of family function, flexibility, and fun. The 7,200-square-foot structure is divided into two volumes. The house does not merely imitate the styles of the past, but responds to the given site with sensitivity and logic. The typical residential plan is reinvented by adapting to the changing needs of the family over time.
