Piazza Varlungo

Firenze, Italy

2nd prize international contest ‘Tre piazze per Firenze’

The project consists of the inclusion of architectural design solutions and urban furniture that can reduce the speed of vehicular flow. The aim is to preserve the structure of the territory, transferring it to an urban scale.
All pavements are accessible to vehicles: in particular, the brick in the paved areas will be reinforced with a concrete base. In order to further reduce traffic flow, it is envisaged that the concrete pavement in the central part can be replaced by a brick pavement.
